This is the standard supermarket arrangement, and EloERP reads it natively. Your counter scale weighs the item and prints a sticker; the customer brings it to the checkout; the checkout scans it and knows both what it is and what it weighs. It works with the scales you already own — the labels are a standard format, not a proprietary one.

What the weighed barcode carries:

A 2-digit in-store prefix in the reserved 20–29 range, so a shop-printed label can never collide with a manufacturer's barcode

A 5-digit PLU identifying the product — the same number programmed into your scale and held against the product in EloERP

A 5-digit value carrying either the weight or the money, whichever convention your scales use — a single setting, with a live worked example and a self-check confirming the label printer and the till agree

Tare deducted before pricing — named presets such as "Small tub" or "Meat tray" entered in grams, with gross, tare and net all recorded on the line so a disputed price can be read back rather than re-argued

PLU codes are searchable at the till, so a cashier keys 4011 rather than hunting through a category, and they load from a spreadsheet through both product-import routes — an entire fruit-and-vegetable department in one go. EloERP also prints your own product and shelf labels carrying name, code, barcode and price. Batch and expiry are tracked per stock lot and printed on your invoices and receipts, with near-expiry warnings and reporting — thirteen digits leave no room for a date, so expiry is handled properly on the document rather than inside the barcode.

Can it handle weighed items like produce, meat and deli?

Yes. Your counter scale weighs the item and prints a barcode sticker; the checkout scans it and reads both the product and the weight from that label. The barcode is a standard EAN-13 built from an in-store prefix in the reserved 20-29 range, a 5-digit PLU identifying the product, and a 5-digit value carrying either the weight or the price depending on the convention your scales use. Which convention applies is a single setting, shown with a live worked example and a self-check that confirms your label printer and the till agree on the format.

Can I deduct the weight of the tub or tray before pricing?

Yes. Named tare presets such as "Small tub", "Meat tray" or "Bakery box" are set up once and entered in grams, which is how anyone actually thinks about a container. At the counter the cashier taps a preset or types a one-off value, and the line records gross weight, tare and net weight separately, so a price queried a week later can be read back from the invoice rather than re-argued.

Does EloERP support PLU codes for loose goods?

Yes. Products carry a PLU field alongside name, code and barcode, and it is searchable at the till, so a cashier can key 4011 for bananas instead of hunting through a category. PLUs load from a spreadsheet through both product-import routes, so an entire fruit-and-vegetable department can be set up at once. The same PLU is the 5-digit key inside the weighed barcode, which is what keeps the number in your scale, the number on the printed label and the product in EloERP the same number.

Will it warn me about products nearing expiry?

Yes. Batch and expiry are tracked per stock lot, with near-expiry alerts, FEFO picking and reporting, and the batch and expiry print on your invoices and receipts. Expiry is handled on the document rather than inside the barcode - a thirteen-digit weighed label has no room for a date.

Can I run several branches from one system?
