A small branch server on site holds prices, customers and the print queue. Tills talk to it, never to the cloud directly — so selling, barcode scanning, cash tendering, promotions, returns, shift open and close and silent receipt printing all carry on exactly as normal. When the line returns, every queued sale is replayed through the same path an online sale takes, so the ledger, stock, costing, invoice numbers and tax are still produced centrally. There is no separate offline system to merge afterwards.
